Mack
& Mabel
Tuesday
20th – Saturday 24th April 2010
Director
- Peter J Reed
Musical Director - Colin Warnock
Choreographer - Andrea Green
This
biopic saga of the silent film era relives the exploits of legendary director
Mack Sennett (creator of the Keystone Cops) and Mabel Normand, his greatest star.
Mack recalls his triumphs and the events of his turbulent on-again off-again affair
with Mabel. From their early beginnings in 1910, when Mack discovers ‘the kid
from the deli’, the show follows their rollercoaster romance across America to
Hollywood fame and fortune, despair and hope.
Michael
Stewarts’ fast moving show is full of both comic and tragic touches and arguably
features Jerry Herman’s best musical score - packed with numbers such as Movies
Were Movies, Look What Happened To Mabel, I Won't Send Roses, Tap Your Troubles
Away, When Mabel Comes in the Room.
