BAND 'GET BACK' TO OXTED
Top Beatles tribute, Sgt Pepper's Only Dart Board Band will 'Get Back' to
Oxted in December after an absence of two years. They will perform again at The
Barn Theatre having sold-out there on their previous visit in December 2001.
This year the in-demand
Peppers have had a busy summer appearing in many outdoor festival events, the
main highlight being the Orange Ashton Court Festival at Bristol supporting Robert
Plant, former front man of Led Zeppelin, in front of a 30,000 strong audience.
The band also headlined at the Homberg Town Festival in Germany. In May Liverpool's
famous Cavern Club was 'taken over' by The Peppers for a weekend. They had appeared
previously at Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall but this was their first stint at
the Cavern and they went down a storm there. They weren't to know it at the time
but a certain Paul McCartney was to appear on the same Cavern stage at a 'secret'
gig just five days after the Peppers gigs and just before his King's Dock gig
Promoter Tom Sangster says that the Pepper Band has been together
for seven years now without change to their line-up and they just get better and
better. "It's like watching a fine wine mature" he says. "As a Beatles tribute
band they can't be beaten for sheer entertainment, stage presence and know-how.
This all comes from their vast experience as purveyors of tongue in cheek humour
which interweaves nicely with the songs in their live sets. Believe me, they will
get the place 'jumping'! The Barn is a small theatre but it has an intimacy and
atmosphere which is hard to beat. When the Pepper Band played there before it
was a fantastic night and they are looking forward to returning."
