Putting
the Fun back into the Festival
After
the disappointment following the cancellation of this year's Southern Counties
Drama Festival (formerly The Betchworth Festival), the Barn Theatre, home to the
festival for the past 18 years, is delighted to announce that it will take sole
responsibly for staging next year's festival in February. The theatre has for
many years been enthusiastically providing technical expertise to the participating
groups and hopes to ensure the festival's future by taking over the organisation
as well.
The Barn
Theatre's Artistic Director, Martin Patrick, is already spear-heading preparations
for an even better, brighter Southern Counties Drama Festival and promises a fun
filled festival with an injection of new ideas and a fresh up-beat approach. He
believes that local festivals should be a shop window for local talent and a springboard
for the many good youngsters that amateur drama has to offer. The festival is
also an opportunity for people with like minds and interests to meet, perform
to a wider audience and receive a constructive adjuducation.
The
Southern Counties Drama Festival will, as usual, be the first round of the All
England Theatre Festival (AETF).
